A treatise is more authoritative than an encyclopedia. In contrast, an encyclopedia demands a broader knowledge base to serve as an introductory text to those seeking basic understanding of the overall material.

Drafting a treatise suits my method of focusing on one topic of research at a time. . . . Having said that, I would be interested in consolidating my previous knowledge of the kingdom of Hornburg with recent discoveries in encyclopedic form. [He nods to himself.] Yes, I do believe you've given me an idea. Now I can scarcely wait to begin applying it!
