Welcome to a new week, lovebirds! Monday dawns gray and misty, and it's actually not long before a thunderstorm rolls in! You can, of course, kiss dramatically in the yard in the rain and risk getting struck by lightning-- or you can stay inside, cuddle in the conversation pit, USE THE GODDAMN BOOM BOOM ROOM or do anything else until the storm blows over by the evening! Don't worry, the rest of the week will be bright and sunny and beautiful!

There's also a new section of the house, weirdly enough! There's a bright turquoise door located near the bedroom and opening it leads to... a massive indoor pool. The water is a pleasant temperature, there's a hot tub, there's an assortment of flotation devices for those of you who might have trouble swimming (tubes, life vests, boogie boards, pool noodles that can also be used to wage Deadly Combat if you are Sara and Kasque or Jeritza or anyone else ready for Violence). And if you somehow didn't pack a swimsuit because why on earth would your canon let you have one--

Worry not!! There's a rack of swimsuits in every size you lot could need! The catch (or not): they're all sexy. Like. Barely there sexy. Impossibly adhering to you sexy. Shoelaces would maybe cover more sexy. Absolutely great to play Chicken Fight in sexy. You get the idea.

Anything having to do with being able to write is still also Not Present.

But, speaking of entertainment, there was tragically little of it on the moon. Which means: ]

I was never presented with an opportunity that required being able to swim. [ So...no, he has no idea how to swim. He doesn't sound sad about this though? ] Is it very difficult?

Oh.... then, this won't do.

[ now they feel bad because they almost just drowned him... closes eyes. They heft him up a little before gently placing him on the ground, brows knitting together. ]

You're a bit heavier than most, so you might actually sink to the bottom, too. If that's the case, then yes, swimming will be difficult for you. Especially if you need to breathe....?

[ do moondwellers breathe?? dia hasn't paid attention to it. ]

[ they should have drowned cassius tbh, imagine the drama it would have caused

But unfortunately for all parties invested in this drama (aka me), Cassius has a perfectly nice answer to Diamond's question. ]

I do not require the continued supply of oxygen in order to maintain my biological functions.

[ So he'll be fine? Maybe??? Once again, only one way to find out. ]

However, I do enjoy the taste of oxygen every now and then.

Somehow his statement makes their eyes light up in recognition. They don't relate to the taste of oxygen thing, really, but in such a foreign place, it's nice to find a point of likeness with anybody. ]

So you can go to the bottom like me, then. We should jump in together since it's safe. It'll be fun!

[ Cassius is perhaps the only person they can jump into the pool with...?! They wanna have fun like everybody else. ]

[ He has never jumped into a pool before so you know what, this sounds like a perfectly fine plan to him! Cassius barely waits before nodding agreement. ]

Yes, I am able to remain at the bottom of this pool with you.

[ Dia is such a nice gem?? Why wouldn't he want to support them in all things. ]

Would you still prefer to throw me into the pool as originally intended, or would jumping in side by side be more preferable? I have also heard humans often hold hands while engaging in activities together.

[ Not that either of them are humans, but you know. You can be inhuman and still enjoy human experiences. ]

Together, of course.

[ And they are threading their fingers with yours, Cassius. They feel really excited?! Normally they need to be incredibly careful with all these humans, but at heart, they're the affectionate sort, wanting to hug and tackle and pick up people with abandon. At home, they needed to be careful too, but even being able to let out a smidgen more of this affectionate energy inside them makes them feel pleased. ]

Let's jump in on three. Ready? One, twoooo....

[ They are tugging him along to the edge of the pool in preparation for Ayto's Biggest Pool Splash™. ]

[ Dia's enthusiasm must be catching because Cassius thinks he can feel his heart speed up a little, despite the fact that there is no battle taking place around them nor are there any other stressors present. Is this....excitement? Fascinating if so.

His fingers curl tightly around Dia's own, his body moving in time with the other's. As soon as the word three echoes in the air, he's jumping into the pool—or rather, following half a second behind Dia as he sort of gets tugged into the pool. Look, his entrance needs some work but he's trying here.

Hopefully there's no one standing nearby as they both jump in, because Ayto's Biggest Pool Splash™ is truly sending waves everywhere. ]

[ After that huge splash, Dia keeps holding onto his hand until they start sinking their way to the bottom. The pool's reasonably deep, so they're not in danger of anyone accidentally kicking them or anything once their feet touch down to the pool floor with a soft thud.

Dia's shine is muted to a soft glow under the water like this, though their bright, exhilarated expression makes up for it. The sight is different from one they've seen before, of course— they're used to the ocean and ponds. But there's something beautiful about being under the water, no matter where it is.

They think of their earlier conversations with Cassius - the logic and unfun ways of the moon, that is. With an encouraging smile, they swing their linked hands together a bit. ]

Isn't that pretty fun? And it's nice down here, too.

[ It certainly is different under the water, both from what he's experienced on the moon as well as on earth. The water causes a distortion of everything he sees and hears, both adding to and muting the natural luster of the gem next to him.

The gentle swing of their hands together through the water grounds him, and he feels another bubble of something warm and pleasant rising up in his chest. (Happiness? Friendship? Joy?) He smiles back at Diamond, content to let their linked hands continue swinging through the water. ]

Indeed. The water temperature is neither too cold nor too hot, and the view from down here is different from what I am used to. Thank you, Diamond, for introducing me to new experiences such as this one.

[ They seem happy to be thanked, squeezing his hand with affection. It's good to encourage him, they think. Someone who grew up the way he did— he probably never received anything kind or helpful from others, and if they can make up for that a little bit, then they'll feel like they made a good change in the world. ]

You don't need to say thank you. I'm having fun too, of course.

[ At last, they release him, folding their hands behind them. ]

Actually, I should be thanking you for indulging me like this. I haven't gotten to do that in a really long time...

[ They even sound a bit wistful recalling it. ]

[ Dia.... They are truly such a cute being, and Cassius hopes they find happiness on this reality TV show before it's all over. (The curse of living in backtag land.) ]

It is better to make our feelings known than to hide them away from others even in something as inconsequential as this, is it not?

[ That's what he's learned from his time with Beatrix and Zeta and co, to accept the tumultuous new emotions welling up inside him rather than fight or analyze them. It's a work in progress still, and very rough around the edges, but the more he does it the easier it becomes.

And with Diamond, whose presence is soothing and whose words are always considerate, it's even easier to do so. He thinks he would like to repay Diamond for all the gem has done. ]

Is there anything else you would like to do, while you have the opportunity here?

[ Cassius is ready to do anything tbh, Dia will not get a better chance than this. ]
