Week 1 Date;
❤ Week 1 Date
The winners of the first challenge have been announced: Cyrus and Douki-chan, Milla and Jeritza and Ash and Diamond. The Overseer extends her earnest congratulations and promises to meet them on Wednesday morning to take them out on the island for their date.
Everyone will be expected to wear a swimsuit underneath any clothes they have on (and the Overseer has thoughtfully provided a change of cute/cool swimsuits in lieu of the Super Sexy ones this time) as they're taken out on a boat to the middle of the ocean and given floaties or snorkeling equipment in order to--
Swim with the dolphins! The dolphins are very eager to make new friends and help anyone who has trouble swimming, though if Diamond chooses to forgo floating and chill at the bottom of the ocean, the dolphins will be able to hang out with them down there too. There's also three floating platforms where our couples can enjoy a delicious picnic lunch and some bonding time while watching the dolphins frolic! If they want to swim over and hang out on one platform as a six-person powwow, this is also fine.
As the sun starts to set, the boat will take you all back to the house.
Enjoy!!

...A little. [ They admit, sheepish. But they quickly turn their attention from him to the water below them instead. ] It's a bit deep, isn't it? Deeper than the pool.
no subject
You do care! [ That sounds mostly teasing. ] But yeah, the ocean's more vast than a dragon's nest.
no subject
—Well, yes, of course I do! I didn't mean I only cared a little... [ They purse their lips, searching for the right words. ] Just that I was only a little worried for you.
[ Because he seems capable...? And, as much as they've worried over their new fragile human companions, they know worrying about someone too much can be patronizing. They fuss with their fingers to give themself something to do. ]
I've been out in the sea a lot, but I wasn't sure if you have yourself.

By sea is the only way to get to different kingdoms, unless you're a bird or a dragon. So while I'm not a sailor, I'm not just gonna drown.
[ He stands up and stretches, looking into the crystal clear water below. ]
Which way my dearest muse?
no subject
Then, I'll show you the fastest way to find them. [ They hold out their still gloved hand. ] You'll sink faster if you hold on to me, giving you more time underwater... If that's alright with you.
[ He did seem hesitant about touching them before... they want to give him an out. ]
no subject
It's hard to say. ]

Down there, there's an array of dark rocks and smatterings of coral - all still illuminated by the sun above the surface. Even Dia provides some lighting, their glare softened into a warm glow beneath the waves. ]
Hmm.. you probably can't talk down here. I'll speak for the both of us. [ As expected, they are completely fine under here... They let go of one of his hands, pulling him over to where there's a collection large sunken boulders. ] Oysters like to adhere to hard surfaces like this. I've heard humans can eat them, so if you take them for the pearls.. make sure they don't go to waste, if you can.
[ Pearls are pretty worthless in their eyes.... puny and very easy to crush. So they don't really care. They release him, giving a small, noncommittal smile. ]

Eventually he settles for emphatic nodding and leans forward to try to grab at any oysters that might be burrowed in the depths. He can't yell at the bottom of the ocean but he can flail cause that sure is a crab instead. Yikes. ]

You're not half as gallant as you like to act, are you?
[ They laugh, and maybe they only say that because they know he can't respond to it at present. Pulling the animal out of the little crevice it's hidden in is easy enough, especially with no threat to themself. It's a little endearing, this charade, or it would be if they had any clue what that charade was masking. ]
You're just fine the other way, you know. [ Dia gets the sense he doesn't want it pointed out further, though, so they don't look at him, crouching down so they can let the crab free to scurry off somewhere else. ] Even if you are afraid of sea creatures...
[ they're teasing... mostly. ]

But then they keep talking, and Ash just kind of stares, something he really can't afford to do here since yeah, air. He catches himself when his lungs remind him that they're empty, and he kicks off the rock at the bottom, using it as momentum to swim towards the surface as he grasps at what hopefully is an oyster for all this trouble (it's not, but he'll figure that out when he can look at the unassuming sea creature in his palm.)
He's taking more than several deep breaths when he surfaces. ]
no subject
Are you alright...? [ They have never seen people breathe like this... But he's not drowning, so maybe things are okay, and he's just tired? Leaning over the edge, they reach their arm out towards him. ] Here, I'll pull you on.
no subject
This isn't even an oyster!
no subject
They do look similar. Sort of.
[ Not really..... but they feel they should say something comforting in this moment. ]
It won't have a pearl, but you can still use it for food... what do you need a pearl for, anyway? Are they valuable or something...?
no subject
But we have plenty of food here already... [ Chucks the mussel back into the sea with more force than necessary! ]
Ah, whatever. [ Looks back at Diamond with a nod now that he feels a little better. ] Yeah, they're used in jewelry so they fetch a pretty good price.
no subject
[ They trail off, closing their eyes and smiling serenely. Surely, that's not... well, there's no use thinking about it deeply right now. ]
I only ever see pearls used on clothing. And synthetic ones, at that. [ Reaching over, they procure one of the many shells they brought up instead; there's a big variety, but the one they've picked up is a pleasant orange shade. ] So, I end up thinking shells like this are a lot cuter. I bet they're not worth anything to humans, are they?
no subject
I don't think so, but I couldn't tell you why. The wealthy want what they want, and they pretty much decide what's valuable and what's not.
