Welcome to a new week, lovebirds! Monday dawns gray and misty, and it's actually not long before a thunderstorm rolls in! You can, of course, kiss dramatically in the yard in the rain and risk getting struck by lightning-- or you can stay inside, cuddle in the conversation pit, USE THE GODDAMN BOOM BOOM ROOM or do anything else until the storm blows over by the evening! Don't worry, the rest of the week will be bright and sunny and beautiful!

There's also a new section of the house, weirdly enough! There's a bright turquoise door located near the bedroom and opening it leads to... a massive indoor pool. The water is a pleasant temperature, there's a hot tub, there's an assortment of flotation devices for those of you who might have trouble swimming (tubes, life vests, boogie boards, pool noodles that can also be used to wage Deadly Combat if you are Sara and Kasque or Jeritza or anyone else ready for Violence). And if you somehow didn't pack a swimsuit because why on earth would your canon let you have one--

Worry not!! There's a rack of swimsuits in every size you lot could need! The catch (or not): they're all sexy. Like. Barely there sexy. Impossibly adhering to you sexy. Shoelaces would maybe cover more sexy. Absolutely great to play Chicken Fight in sexy. You get the idea.

Anything having to do with being able to write is still also Not Present.

Pre-matchup ceremony discussion

Now that Aoko and I have been confirmed as a match, let us discuss the possibility of others.

Previously, Marcille and Rufus expressed an interest in exploring everyone's preferences in regards to their matches. While some of us shared them then, those individuals are welcome to speak for themselves again in the event of any changes. As for what we should be looking for . . . although Aoko leads me to believe that matches are a combination of what one desires and needs, it is not a claim I can make with certainty.

[He shakes his head. Matchmaking is far from his area of expertise. No, this for everyone to decide individually.]

Furthermore, last week concluded with five beams. Is everyone still of the same opinion as to which beam belonged to whom, or have there been changes anyone would like to address?

Desires and needs? And what made you come to that conclusion?

[Desires are simple, their main motivation for being here at all. As for needs… well, maybe for some they’re different, though he imagines the two run very parallel with each other in most cases.]

At any rate, it shouldn’t take too long for everyone to step up and say exactly what it is they want in a match. That should lay the foundations of any decisions from here on out.

[ Ash shifts his weight from one leg to the other before shrugging. He's said it to a few people so even if he's really not into being first necessarily, he is all about his wants. ]

Money. Wealth. Gold, you get the idea. The how's or means don't matter.

I expressed a desire to meet someone with an appreciation for scholarship. It turns out that Aoko and I share the same philosophy when it comes to education . . . Nevertheless, she's helped me where I've always struggled in matters of the heart—and that is what I consider one of my many needs.

So you’re hypothesizing that we need to take into consideration more than what we need romantically, but as a person.

What about for someone who isn’t wanting for much? Sure, we all have our wishes, and an interest in a partner… But beyond that, I’m pretty set back on my planet.

. . . I had thought the same at first, but your confidence and charisma far surpass my own. In your case, we may simply have to focus on what wants you do have. Fortunately, you know exactly what you desire.

Well, if we’re all sharing, I’ll toss my hat into the ring. I want someone who can keep up with me. An adventurer’s lifestyle isn’t an easy one, but it’s dear to my heart. My ideal partner won’t be afraid to get dirty or put themselves on the line for others.

Someone who values friendship and family ties is also important, as both are huge parts of my life.

[ If it looks like her eyes flick briefly to Sara on that last part… no they don’t. Anyway, moving on… ]

If there’s aught I need outside of that, I couldn’t possibly begin to tell you what that is. I like to think I’m decently self-aware.

Stressing the importance of friendship and family is probably one of the popular sentiments. I don’t know if that narrows it down too much.

It wouldn't be surprising, if it's a combination of desire and needs, considering they're supposed to be that perfect match.

Someone I can enjoy my time with. You know, have a bit of an emotional connection.

[ Is that too vague? Well, he's going to be answering with that. ]

I believe it is fairly clear what I have been looking for.

[ He says in such a confident manner...as if that is like the key to victory. Though, the fact this has come up before, something about it may also having to do with what one 'needs'...

If that happens to be true, he's not sure what to think of that. Jeritza has been fairly certain about what he wants and he thinks he needs. ]

It's at this point in time that Jeritza realizes what the brunet says is to be the truth. While some may know or while it has been hinted at in his profile, it is possible that offering such words will make it even more clear. To leave less room for doubt amongst them. ]

One who would be able to meet me on the battlefield, one who'd be able to match me blow for blow, and in a life or death match between the two of us... be the one to emerge as the victor.

And though I've yet to test her skill in battle thus far, it appears Milla has so far stepped up to meet the challenge head on. That in of itself is more than enough of a reason for myself to consider her a viable option.

In reality, what he has said before is quite frankly an insane thing to look for in a partner, but does that stop him? No. ]

There were a few names tossed out, but not too much talk on the matter. Probably should talk about it a bit more before choices happen tomorrow.

Should we start with discussing our own matches from last week? If we all agree on common ground on who seems to best fit who, we'd better our chances of another match.

[Marcille is usually the first person to stick her nose in these discussions, if only to hear about other people's love lives. But tonight she's much more subdued, even if ostensibly the mood is celebratory and they have a lot to be joyful about. She's waiting her turn to speak, for once.

For a while, she's listening while also helping everyone by providing some (not literally) finger food snacks and drinks from the kitchen. so if anyone needs an excuse to get messy or sloppy pre-ceremony there you go, marcille is helping.

She cups her own glass in both palms. There's a whole list of things in her profile and a whole list of things she spouted during her intake, all of which are things she thinks she should think she should want to have. But - ]

I didn't really say this in my interview. Well, I said someone who's smart enough to understand things. But that isn't all of it. Maybe it's not just about understanding things that are said, but about someone who's willing to understand other people.

... Rather, someone who doesn't laugh at other people's dreams. I don't think I'm always good at that. But if I say it's what I want for myself, is that wrong?

[Nursing his own drink, Cyrus pauses mid sip once Marcille speaks. She's been unusually quiet, he realizes, and the way she phrases her answer is unorthodox—raw—compared to the rest, whom he's been leaving to their own devices unless addressed.

He lowers his glass.]

Desires are born from the heart. Like knowledge, emotions are neither intrinsically right nor wrong; it's how you execute them, influencing the world around you, that determines your virtue.

[He raises an upturned hand for emphasis.]

It is not wrong to want something.

[ She says it quietly, like confessing to a sin; though she does not view it as such when coming from Marcille. For Sara, the true problem isn't what she wants, it's that she wants at all, when she has been given so much. But Marcille is not her — she is someone allowed, someone who should be encouraged, to seek her happiness. ]

To laugh at another's dream is a great cruelty. Disapproval, uncertainty, even anger... depending on the circumstance, these may all be fair reactions. But laughter disrespects both the dream, and the dreamer.

[Marcille bites her lower lip.] From a stranger, sure, but what about from someone who's supposed to be at your side?

... You'd want to choose someone who would know what it meant to support that dream, right? At least, someone who would try to understand...

[When she started speaking, she was talking about dreams in general. Because it is something she could be better at. She has never understood Laios entirely, even been mean to him about it...some of the things she's heard here make the same amount of sense to her.

But just as quickly, Marcille has slipped, probably on accident, into talking about dreams as if she has a specific one in mind.]

... Still, it's better to hear from someone else that they have similar feelings. I'm pretty stubborn when it comes to being right.
